Check out this awesome article about Asenathi and Roger's journey to the 2016 Rio Olympics. Well worth a read!
So after 2 days and many kilometres, the UCTYC convoy pulled into the vaal dam for USSA 2015. Sailing at the vaal is different, very different, which has left some of the team reminiscing over theewaterskloof blasts in sonnets followed by kiting and windsurfing sessions which have become a staple of university sailing events.
Light and variable winds have seen 7 races completed in the first 2 days of racing, with the UCT A team still unbeaten and the B team still smarting from a loss to Stellenbosch in a light wind drifter. Hopefully more wind will arrive tomorrow and we can have a solid day if racing to match the sore heads from the evening festivities.
Farewell for now from the land of little wind, thunderstorms and spectacular sunsets.
